KWN Tips
Scripting
Follow these basic guidelines and you won’t go wrong!
  • Decide on the point of view- who is telling the story, what are they going to tell?
  • Don't use words if a picture tells the story.
  • Take the viewer to where the action is.
  • Make the dialogue realistic (the way people talk)
  • Let dialogue and narration move the story along.
  • Use action verbs.
  • Use realistic details (clothes that fit time, set, character etc.)
  • Include description of set, location, props, costume etc. in the script.
  • Voiceover (V.O.) sets the scene, describes what has happened or is about to happen, explain how events are related etc.
  • Did you pull the viewer in? Did you spark their interest to keep watching?
  • Is there a clear ending where problem is resolved?
